Design & Consulting

As we connect with the land we increase our sense of relationship to the world around us. Oakley Gardens supports this empowering sense of interconnection for people of all backgrounds and budget levels, and can work creatively with any context: from apartment dwellers and their landlords, folx with an acre to play with, or someone working on an imgainative play space for kiddos and pets. Margaret’s horticultural expertise supports the best selection of plants, and she’ll teach you to build soil health, irrigate mindfully, and can also help guide the design and creation of hardscape elements such as pathways, trellises, and more. For aspects of your project that you cannot physically tackle yourself, we’ll connect you with landscape collaborators who can assist you with construction and maintenance. We’re there to support you through the process of making a meaningful garden from the early stage vision, to design, implementation, and then maintaining the space through its evolution over time.

Bespoke landscape design fees start at $2500 vary based on the unique conditions of each project.

Garden Consultation Rates

$500 Consultation (for those in the greater Los Angeles area)

Video options available for those outside of the Los Angeles area.

Before we meet, you’ll fill out an in-depth new client form detailing your garden goals. Through an approximately hour long discussion, we’ll discuss this and more, and determine a series of next steps to support you in your landscape project. After the conversation, Oakley Gardens provides a follow-up report listing advice and next steps, as well as resource recommendations. Together we’ll walk the landscape, reflect on the unique aspects of the space together, and creatively brainstorm approaches to create your ideal garden.

Development and Construction Consulting

Oakley Gardens works collaboratively with architects, property developers and construction companies who care about creating more sustainable and life affirming landscapes that benefit the project and the community. We can create or review planting plans for the inclusion of native species, assist with sourcing of plant material, and advise on maintenance regimes that will keep the landscape looking its best year-round.
