Land Acknowledgement

Oakley Gardens acknowledges that we work in the unceded homelands of the Tongva, Chumash, Tataviam, Kitanemuk and Serrano peoples, who have been and continue to be the original stewards of what is now called Los Angeles County. We revere and are inspired by the Traditional Ecological Knowledge of the 200 California First Nations.

Ethical Statement

Oakley Gardens operates under a rigorous ecological framework, with an awareness that everything is interconnected, and the choices we make impact others. Our approach to garden making emphasizes a deep respect for the land, with a consideration for how the land and the human body are related. How we treat the soil, water, plants, where we spend money, what garden products we purchase, and how we treat the wider ecosystem of fauna and fellow humans are all considered opportunities for building the world in which we want to live.
